Starting strong safety Taylor Mays of the SF 49ers, needs to move on and just shut up. During player introductions this past weekend, Taylor declined to acknowledge his former college (USC) rather give props to his former high school O’Dea in Seattle.
Taylor still upset with former USC coach Pete Carrol for what Mays thinks their was a lack of effort on Pete’s part when helping him prepare for the NFL Draft. Since that time Taylor has been highly out spoken against Pete, and is now voicing his frustration with the program as well.
Well Taylor, I’m here to tell you, no player is bigger than the University. Just ask fellow Trojan Reggie Bush. I have met you, and always considered you a player of great talent. But I will also say, for every play you showed how great you can be, you have 2 plays that show why you were’t drafted until the middle of round 2. You break late on balls thrown, and while most safeties show great instinct on where the ball is being played, you play where you think the player is going to be, allowing for you to get caught out of position.
You have all the talent, but its too bad your ego is larger than the skill you play with.
